City Matching Funds

The Fort Worth City Council has pledged money from the Future Community Partnerships Fund to assist with creation of a Tarrant County Vietnam Memorial on Camp Bowie Blvd. The Council voted Tuesday to match up to $200,000 of the memorial’s cost.

Car Club Donation

Members of the Silver Dollar Classic Car Club of Azle, Texas presented a $5,000 check to the Tarrant County Vietnam Memorial Foundation last week. The Donation followed the club hosting its third annual veterans’ car show in March at Eagle Mountain Marina.

Contract Signed

The Tarrant County Vietnam Memorial Foundation (TCVMF) has contracted with Teague, Nall and Perkins, Inc. (TNP) of Fort Worth to provide design services for the construction of a monument in Veterans Memorial Park on Camp Bowie Blvd.

Forward

Local efforts to honor Vietnam war-era veterans from Tarrant County are moving forward in spite of the pandemic, according to Jim Hodgson, executive director of the Fort Worth Aviation Museum, and leader of the memorial campaign.

A Tarrant County Vietnam War-era memorial website launches this week in support of local fund-raising efforts to support building a permanent tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in Southeast Asia.

Design

A sculpture designed by student artist Ryan Scieneaux, a senior at Brewer High School, has been declared the winner in the Tarrant County Vietnam War-Era Memorial competition.

The city’s approved a special ceremony for 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19 at Veterans Memorial Park on Camp Bowie Blvd., according to Jim Hodgson, chairman of the Fort Worth Aviation Museum.

Efforts to honor North Texas servicemen who died in Southeast Asia are marching forward. A Tarrant County Vietnam Memorial Foundation (TCVMF) has formed to venerate those from the greater Fort Worth area who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam Conflict.
